Transport of goods by sea has always played a vital role in the global economy and will continue to be of great importance due to ever increasing globalisation and liberalisation of markets. The growth of seaborne trade has also had its impact on ports as they are the link between the sea and land. Globalization emphasises the need for efficiency and cost reduction in the transport chain, including port operations.

Without organizing international trade, we would be unable to get products from A to B. There are many actors involved when organising the flow of goods. We all benefit from products that are not available in our backyard. But the flow of goods (raw material and end products) has an impact on the way how we organize transport. Standardization, regulation, roles and responsibilities of the actors involved, contribute to the successful movement of goods. Where do actors have to deal with? What functions do they have? What regulations are in place? What are INCOTERMS and why are they so important in the process? What is the role of IT? What do shipowners have to consider in the decision- making process? Knowing these answers will take you on top of the process, understand the industry and play a significant role in your day-to-day business. The complexity of the processes will be made understandable, enabling you to play a powerful role in (a part of) the chain. Within 30 hours, you have the chance to obtain this valuable certificate.
